Methodist Hospital News
ABOUT
1,000 people turned out
Sept. 17 to help Methodist Hospital
celebrate the opening of the new pa-
tient tower. Families and friends were
welcomed to our community open
house, and a festive celebration it was!
Our volunteer pet therapy dogs
were on hand, much to the delight
of children, who also enjoyed visiting
with Arcadia paramedics and SWAT
team, Sierra Madre search-and-rescue
squad, and the Teddy Bear Clinic. The
Boy Scouts offered information on
earthquake-preparedness kits, and
many hospital services provided infor-
mation and blood pressure screenings.
In addition, local school and activity
groups performed throughout the
day. Singers, orchestras, ballet dancers
and jujitsu performances were enjoyed
by the crowd of folks on the beautiful
September day.
A giant infatable MEGA Heart and
MEGA Brain attracted both kids and
adults. These interactive walk-through
displays both delighted and educated.
Standing by to fll young minds with
interesting facts was a real nurse
dressed in an old-fashioned nurse’s
uniform.
Panda Express, Gourmet Genie and
Gypsy Toast food trucks offering deli-
cious yet affordable lunches were a big
hit when hunger pangs attacked. Free
ice cream, frozen treats and popcorn
were also popular. And every guest
received a mini fashlight for emergen-
cies. And for many, the highlight was
getting a tour of the new tower.
